The drivetrain in a motorcycle

In motorcycles, mopeds and quads (ATVs), the drivetrain consists of a number of components: front sprocket, rear sprocket, drive chain, transmission, differential, drive shaft, reduction box, distributor, axle and half-shaft, along with drive wheels. They are responsible for delivering the driving force from the engine to the vehicle's wheels. This process helps ensure optimal traction and speed for a motorcycle, scooter or ATV. 

Since motorcycles appeared on the roads, manufacturers have been improving not only engines, but also transmissions and other drivetrain components. The development of this field has led to the creation of modern motorcycles with different types of transmissions. 

What type of drive train to choose?

There is an ongoing debate among motorcyclists about the type of drivetrain and which one is best. Both chains, drive belts and driveshafts have their own set of advantages and disadvantages, and which one is better for a motorcycle depends on the specific application.
