The company was founded in 1907 by Gatti, but formally registered in Italy in 1921 by Cesare Rizzato.
Atala/Rizzato is well known for producing racing bikes that achieved several championship victories in the early 20th century. They managed to win several championships in the 1980s before falling into financial difficulties. Today 50% of the company is owned by the Accell group.
They also produce scooters for the brands "Carraro", "Whistle USA", "Maino" and "Dei".
In recent years they have enjoyed victories with the Atala team.
